The GRISLEY COMPONENTS V PLENUM Retrofit Makes Idler Conveyors Cost-Effective

The patented GRISLEY COMPONENTS V PLENUM ASC Air Supported Conveyor is a component-based method for upgrading troughing conveyors to more reliable and cost-effective air-supported conveyors. Designed according to CEMA (Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association) standards, the V PLENUM utilizes the troughing conveyor's existing support structure, drive mechanism and belt. Furthermore, using the technology that is quickly making the GRISLEY ASC the industry standard for high performance conveying, the V PLENUM is more efficient, reliable and cost-effective than conventional conveying technologies.

Our retrofitting method not only simplifies the process of upgrading troughing conveyors, but it has the added advantage of eliminating the need for further retrofitting. By eliminating the source of wear (friction from moving parts), the V PLENUM will substantially reduce the conveyor's operating and maintenance costs. For details, see illustration below.

Now GRISLEY COMPONENTS INC has made the V PLENUM ASC available at a per-section cost comparable to that of a conventional and regularly-scheduled retrofit. The V PLENUM retrofit provides all of the inherent benefits of air-supported conveying, and it does so by using the troughing conveyor's existing structure, which results in a substantial reduction in installation costs and downtime.

  • The V-PLENUM Conveyor is designed to match the existing belt profile and the existing conveyor structure.
     
  • Air-Supported Conveyors can carry additional cargo compared to roller conveyors because:
     
    • There is less friction so the power requirement is less.
       
    • There is no churning action of the cargo as the belt goes over the rollers so speed can be increased.
       
    • No supporting rollers to wear out. It is advantageous to run the belt speed higher.
       
  • The V-PLENUM Conveyor matches the existing trough of the conveyor so the most common way a V-PLENUM Conveyor gains capacity is by increasing the speed.
     
  • V-PLENUM with heavy gage metal dust covers weighs only 15% more than the idlers it replaces and they don’t have dust covers!
     
  • If ABS dust covers are acceptable the weight is almost the same as a conventional roller conveyor idlers.
     
  • The patented V-PLENUM Conveyor is the lightest weight design of all air-supported conveyors. It weighs 35% less than competitive “box plenum” designs.
